Who are the faces of hunger in central Pennsylvania? More often than not, they are people just like you. In fact, 60% of those served by the Food Bank are working families with children.
One in nine central Pennsylvanians, including one in six children, are facing hunger every day. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce hunger in 27 central Pennsylvania counties. By working with nearly 1,000 local agencies and programs, we serve more than 140,000 people in need each month.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a destination academic pediatric medical center designed to manage the most complex of diseases. We treat the sickest of patients from across the country and around the world. We build research programs to assure tomorrow’s breakthroughs help children everywhere. And we train the next generation of physicians, scientists and health care professionals.
2018 - UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (In Honor of Isaac)
Regionally, nationally, and globally, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is a leader in the treatment of childhood conditions and diseases, a pioneer in the development of new and improved therapies, and a top educator of the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. With generous community support, Children’s Hospital has fulfilled this mission since its founding in 1890. Children’s is named consistently to several elite lists of pediatric hospitals, including ranking in nine of the 10 pediatric subspecialties in the prestigious U.S. News & World Report annual Honor Roll of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals for 2018–2019.
2018 - Chestnut Mountain Ranch
Chestnut Mountain Ranch (CMR) is located just 6 miles south of Morgantown, West Virginia on 225 beautiful acres. The Ranch is a Christ-centered safe haven for boys and families in crisis...a place for family restoration, where boys can enjoy school again, and all can experience positive family values.
2017 - Hospice House of Wayne County Ohio (In Memory of founding MUG Member, Rodney Sparks)
LifeCare Hospice is a community-based, not-for-profit hospice serving patients and their families in Wayne County, Holmes County, and the Wadsworth-Rittman area. LifeCare Hospice embodies the spirit of neighbors caring for neighbors with a commitment to relieve suffering, ease fears, and provide companionship along life’s last journey.
2016 - Community Action Southwest
Blueprints, formerly Community Action Southwest, is a non-profit organization that has been serving our area since 1965. Founded by a group of community leaders, the initial focus of the agency was to mobilize public and private resources to deal with the causes of poverty, not just its impact.
2015 - Harmony House
Harmony House Children's Advocacy Center is a comprehensive, child-focused facility-based program that allows prosecutors, law enforcement, child protective service workers, medical and mental health professionals, and victim advocates to work together ensuring that no child is further victimized by systems designed to protect him or her.
